Some really beautiful grain through this piece set off by gentle curvatures and a sharply in-stepped bowl. There’s a small fissure visible on both sides of the object which was uncovered during the turning process. I quite liked it so I carried on. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis object has been turned quite thinly towards the edge, which adds a certain amount of jeopardy when it comes to the yakisugi treatment. But with some careful work I was delighted with the outcome.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTreated with a food safe product so could be used for fruit or a decorative table centrepiece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA tip for displaying. Position the object on a surface between you and a natural light source. As you move through the space the piece will reflect light off its surface revealing different aspects of the grain. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSourced from trees that had to be felled a few years ago in our woodland. Unfortunately we have had a lot of problems with ‘ash dieback’ a disease which ash trees get. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eThe object has been scorched with a blowtorch then meticulously burnished, removing loose char and bringing the surface to a slight polish.
