Wooden Utensils + Bowls
A set of utensils and bowls that I recently designed and made.
The collection aims to be simple, clean and minimal using basic geometries to form the object. Everything is made by hand. I use a wood lathe to turn the handles of the utensils and the bowls to get the perfectly clean lines. The rest of the forms are carved by hand and then sanded to a very smooth finish.
Everything here is made from a storm fallen oak tree which came down in our woodland a few years ago. The bowls have been twice turned, meaning the rough shape was cut when the wood was green and this then is left to dry out before being turned again to cut the final shape. The bowls tends to be a lot more stable doing it this way.
I'm aiming to roll out this collection of woodenware next year and so for now these are the only items I have made. Please refer to the numbered list below to identify each of the products.
Everything is finished with linseed oil which is completely food safe and very easy to reapply to keep the wood vibrant and healthy.
