Oak Board - No. 2
Handmade solid oak board for chopping or serving.
Inspired by traditional Japanese roofs, the edge is cut with a 35 degree chamfer to give a refined and contemporary profile but this also makes it very easy to pick up from any table or surface.
These small boards are perfect for chopping herbs or simply as a side plate for meals. With the minimal and contemporary aesthetic, drawing from Japanese styles, they are also work very well to serve sushi on.
Handmade from FSC certified quarter sawn European Oak which is carefully selected for purpose. Quarter sawn means the timber is cut 90 degrees to the rings in the wood. This is the most prized cut from the tree because this wood is the most dimensionally stable making it ideal for boards but also because it reveals the medullary rays. These are the beautiful lighter streaks that you can see in the pictures and they are particularly pronounced in oak.
Finished with a homemade blend of linseed oil and beeswax.
