Large Bowl made from Sweet Chestnut

Size - D 28.5cm x H 13cm 

Finish - Tung Oil and Waxes  

Sourced from a tree felled in 2021 in our woodland. The tree was unfortunately on the decline and had to be taken down for safety reasons. When trees are taken down this way I feel compelled to really make the most of the wood, especially when it is this quality.

Usually I would have ebonised the surface since sweet chestnut is such a good candidate but I’ve decided to go with a natural finish this time. The grain had a richness and warmth that I couldn’t cover up.

This piece would make a great salad bowl, centrepiece, simply eye candy or all of the above.
